Higher Education Administrator Joins Edtech Startup to Help Universities Coordinate Student Support Services

Dr. Tammi Cooper joins Fidelis Education as executive director to advise universities on out-of-class resources for students

Fidelis Education, maker of a leading software system for out-of-class student support services, welcomes Dr. Tammi Cooper to its executive team.

Formerly Vice President for Innovation and Associate Provost at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB), Dr. Cooper will assume the role of executive director and principal, working closely with institutions to build, personalize, and coordinate out-of-class student services. Additionally, Tammi will apply her expertise in competency-based education (CBE) as she leads Fidelis' CBE practice, helping clients create programs that let students master skills at their own pace.

"In my experience, what goes on outside the classroom has a dramatic impact on students' ability to succeed," says Dr. Tammi Cooper. "At Fidelis, I'll be joining a forward-thinking team that understands that, and whose platform connects students with what they need when they need it - all in the context of valuable relationships."

While at UMHB, Dr. Cooper led the design and implementation of a university-wide assessment process, coordinated multiple student success and retention initiatives, and launched an online curriculum development unit. During her tenure, Dr. Cooper was the architect of the university's competency-based education bachelor's program which included leading faculty through an intensive curriculum design process using a low-cost resource strategy, reworking business processes, establishing student success strategies, receiving accreditation approval and implementing new technology. Tammi has also been active in Educause's Breakthrough Models Academy and participated in the Texas CBE Consortium.
